My grandkids recently got a phone for them to use. It is officially the house phone, but I think the kids would tell you that it is just for them.
I have gotten to know 2 of them better recently because they text and call almost each day!! And I love being able to ask and hear about their day, even if it is just the fact that they had mac and cheese for supper, or that one of them, (one of the girls), just caught another grasshopper.
Now these are kids that are only 9 and 10, as of this writing, and are extremely intelligent. They can do things on the phone that would take some of us a couple of days to figure out. We get pics from them at the same time as they are texting and watching tv, or playing outside. They send group pics out, and text several out of state relatives at one time, keeping track of who is saying what.
They all have chores to do each day, and must have homework done before they can text or call, and if they don’t, as they found out, the phone gets put up for the night. Now there are 7 kids, so the chores get spread out pretty well, and don’t take lots of time, but there are days when the tv takes precedence , lol. For me, when I was little, reading my books were more important than chores, so I do understand getting distracted!

Now I have a cat, Danny, that loves to talk. The kids met him a few years back when they visited, and still remember him. When their Papa was visiting the next year, Danny decided to talk to him, in the dark! His favourite word, or what it sounds like is “Hello”. The next morning, Papa told us he heard someone saying hello, but did not see anyone, which he shouldn’t have, it was night and the doors were locked.
I started laughing and said it was the cat, and if he does it again, just call out his name and he will stop talking!
I have tried several times to get a recording of Danny saying hello, but as soon as he sees me, out comes the regular meow. I get tired of trying!
Well, I was texting this to the kids and telling them about how Danny can talk. I mentioned that I wanted to get a recording of him, but it was almost impossible. I just could not get it! Then, as they say out of the mouth of babes…

During the last few years there have been so many times where I, or people I know, have wanted to give up, to stop trying. Even now, there are things in my life that I would love to stop trying to do; walk more, eat better, lose more weight. Now I know these are things that we all should do. They are good things. But I do get tired of trying. Just like so many, I want to see instant results. I want to know the outcome before I start. But, it doesn’t work that way, I need to keep trying.
So, I figure for now, I will keep remembering the words that my middle grand-daughter wrote: “Well, that’s when you keep trying”. So I will do this, keep trying. Eating better, walking, not watching the scales. And each day pray for all the family, all 9 of them! And say a special thank you to Kalin, for her words of wisdom, words that will help more than she even knows!!
