(New posts for me are seemingly difficult to come by (writer’s block). Then I realized that I started this page to tell to grandkids and others what treasures I find each day, week or month. So I am starting a new format, of sorts. This is the first one.)

I’ve often wondered, and heard it asked, “For what purpose does God want me? I am just me, just a person, a mother, wife, grandmother.” What can I contribute or do that He cannot do?
The answer is simple: He loves me and that is the reason He wants me. He might have something He wants me to do, but because He loves me, He wants me to be with Him and part of His family, not because of what I do. Because of that, I try to do better, to do what I can for Him. Treat others like He would. Treat myself well. Can’t always do it, but I try.

Little by little things get done. One step at a time, we’ve all heard that. But some days I need to hear it again and again. Like cleaning.
I do not like to clean, but I like things to be clean. So, unless I have lots of money to pay someone, I have to do the cleaning. My mom would be proud of me for learning this, she tried to teach me all the time I was growing up.
Now, one item at a time, or corner of the room at a time, I am getting all my ducks in a row. Hopefully the first ducks will still be in their row when I get to the end.
And, there are lots of people benefiting from all this work. Donations to resell stores, to food banks, and to the outreach program at church. So many people benefiting from all the clothes and other household items I bought over the years and stopped using (even some that were hidden in the back of other things) Plus, now I might even be able to keep things tidier!

One of the things I look at online is from a place in Defiance, Ohio. FFRC, Friends of Felines Rescue Center. It is a wonderful place that rescues cats and finds new homes for them even if that home is there with all the others.
One of the cats there is Derecho. He is a cat with CH. CH is an issue that cats can get before they are born, not contagious, but it means he cannot walk well. Some cats that have CH only wobble a little, some cannot get around at all, but other than that, they live out their lives just fine. FFRC takes care of them and sees that they have what they need, and they give their love in return.
There are times when I watch and see Derecho there going from one spot to another, and he will get there, may take some time, but he knows where he wants to go and so he goes!
Even though this might sound odd, this cat is an inspiration. He cannot do what other cats do, but he does what he can: plays and teaches new kittens, sleeps where he wants, watches all that goes on around and enjoys life! His “living” is not slowed down by his “disability”.
I will try to choose this for me, to live as I am today, to do the best I can. Be like Derecho!

This past week I did learn to recognize in me that I do what I should not do, and don’t do what I should. Romans 7:15-24 shows us that Paul, over 2000 years ago had the same dilemma. So I know that this “thing” has been going on for ages and ages.
Each person does something different that they should not. I eat unhealthily even though I know better. But…this past week I have really begone to watch what I am doing, and making a point of choosing wisely.
And have come to see that there are good, better and best choices. This puts the decision in my hands, and I have learned to use looking at choices in all parts of my life.
So, learning is good, and learning to accept yourself, accept my self, and God sees me is even better!! It was a good week.
